24-7 PLAY FESTIVAL
WRITTEN, REHEARSED AND PERFORMED ON AUGUST 14-15, 2026
RUNS AUGUST 15TH, 2026
The festival returns for a fourth season! Seven brand-new short plays, all written, rehearsed, and performed in a 24-hour creative bonanza! On Friday night, seven playwrights are given a common prompt. Their coffee cups are filled and they are given the directive that they can leave the writing chambers only when handing over a completed 10-minute play — or the arrival of 4:00 AM, whichever comes first. On Saturday morning the other artists — 7 directors and 28 actors — arrive to discover their new scripts, roles, and assignments. At noon, the tech process begins. Performances take place at that night. A delightful celebration of the complete theatrical process all in a 24 hour period.

It’s 2004, and 14-year-old Shelby Hinkley has locked Tobey Maguire in her basement, at the height of his career, to force him into marrying her. Samantha Hurley’s laugh-out-loud dark comedy, steeped in Y2K nostalgia, explodes our para-social relationships and the obsessions that detonate them.

THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TULANE

Edward Tulane is a vain, self-absorbed china rabbit, adored by a little girl named Abilene--and incapable of loving her back. When he is accidentally lost at sea, Edward begins an extraordinary journey beyond his control. Passed from hand to hand over many years, he encounters grieving couples, wandering outsiders, lonely children, and unlikely caretakers, each leaving a mark on his silent, fragile life. Through loss, longing, and connection, Edward learns what it truly means to love and to risk loving again. Based on Kate DiCamillo’s beloved novel, this lyrical adaptation is a theatrical tour de force for a small ensemble of actors and musicians.

A DOLL’S HOUSE PART 2

Fifteen years after Nora Helmer slammed the door on her stifling domestic life, she is knocking at that same door, having returned with an urgent request for her former husband. Before Nora can get what she needs, she must reckon with the people she left, all of whom have some choice words for the former Mrs. Helmer. Lucas Hnath's funny, probing and bold new play is at once a continuation of Ibsen's complex exploration of traditional gender roles while also creating a sharp contemporary take on the struggles inherent in all human relationships.

Stone Soup is our ode to what it means to reach out and authentically connect in a time where division runs deep, and connection feels just out of reach. It is a reminder that one pot, one community, and one dream is all it takes to fill all our bellies. Inspired by our connective work on 5Acts 5Macs, the Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre will, once more, bring together the theatre community to bring this magical story to life.

Seance returns for a second season! Join us for a Victorian-era seance, summoned from the quirky and magical mind of Wolfe Bowart. Gather around our table to communicate with those who have passed before us. In this quirky Charles Addams cartoon come to life, something keeps going bump in the night!
Note: It may be best if we leave the kids at home for this spooky journey!

RADIO HOUR

FALL & SPRING
Our Radio Hour series returns for a fourth season with “not-so-late-night” times with two new shows including four radio plays! Produced and directed by Samantha Severson, Radio Hour takes place in front of a live audience and is presented in a “Golden Age of Radio” style. The experience is augmented by an on-stage sound artist performing foley live in front of the theater audience.

THE WOBO SHOW

Wolfe Bowart’s The WoBo Show comes back to the S&S for a fourth season! Join us for two very different shows featuring the hilarious Wolfe Bowart and Xochitl Martinez plus special guests - catch one or see both in our Season 10 series. Wolfe Bowart brings us another enchanting theatre creation, the creator and actor behind such zany, magical works as Cloud Soup, LaLaLuna, OAF, and One Twig at a Time. Enjoyed by audiences the world over, Wolfe’s shows are theatrical experiences that evoke thought, wonder, and laughter — a joyful celebration of oddity, creating dreamlike sequences that inspire delight.

Puppeteer Lisa Sturz, a veteran of Jim Henson Productions, Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Engineering returns again with her Red Herring Puppets series of puppet shows for young audiences.

TUCSON PUPPET CABARET (for Adults)

Join us for the sixth annual Tucson Puppet Cabaret. Enjoy a variety of vignettes for adults performed by musicians, actors, and puppeteers. Be prepared to laugh, reflect, shed a few tears, ponder the uncertainty of existence… and laugh some more! The cabaret is a weekend of curated short-form puppetry acts intended for adult audiences. The Tucson Puppet Cabaret is part of a global PUPPET SLAM NETWORK sponsored in part by Heather Henson's Green Feather Foundation.
Puppets of all shapes, styles, and sizes will take to the stage in acts created by artists from not only our local Tucson community, but from across the United States!
