24-7 Play Festival
The Scoundrel & Scamp’s 24/7 Play Festival is a celebration of the theatrical creative process!
On Friday night, August 15th, at 8:00 PM, seven playwrights will be given a common prompt for plays (a starting line, a prop, a situation) and the gender/age compositions of their assigned cast. Their coffee cups will be filled and they will be given the directive that they can leave the writing chambers only when handing over a completed 10-minute play — or the arrival of 4:00 AM, whichever comes first.
On Saturday morning, August 16th, starting at 7:30 AM, the other artists — 7 directors and 28 actors — arrive to discover their new scripts, roles, and assignments.
At noon, we’ll begin the tech process.
Performances will then take place at 7:00 and 9:00 PM! Both shows will include the seven plays.
At the conclusion of the festival, a mini-awards ceremony will be held to celebrate the audiences’ and artists’ favorites.

Red Herring Puppets: The Ugly Duckling
Red Herring Puppets has created an original musical version of the classic folktale!
A duckling is born who looks different than its siblings, and is deemed “ugly” as a result. The duckling is treated cruelly, and endures loneliness and hardship as it navigates the world. As this classic tale reminds us, though, real ugliness is not the duckling’s appearance, but in the mean and prejudiced behavior of others. His inner sweetness and determination are encouraged by an old woman, a cat, and a hen who help discover his true self.
