for our next workshop and live storytelling event

TrueStory Workshop

Taught by Elaine Gale
WORKSHOP RUNS JAN 13, 20, 27 & FEB 2, 3, 2026
ON TUESDAYS FROM 6:30-8:45pm

WITH A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE ON FEB 4TH at 7PM

Does the thought of writing and telling a true story in front of a live audience thrill you-- but you haven't had the chance or known how to go about it?

A true story can be small. It doesn't have to be about something super dramatic or tragic, but can be plucked from the everyday interactions in our lives. The ordinary can be extraordinary.

Telling a story about some aspect of your life after crafting it into shape is a powerful adventure into self-expression, risk-taking and courage. Stories help us understand more about what we all have in common and what connects us in our shared humanity.

In TrueStory, a new workshop and live storytelling collaboration, join Scoundrel and Scamp and professional storyteller Elaine Gale, to learn to craft a story both for the page and for the stage.

First, we'll meet for four weeks to pick out a story from the vast curation of your life experiences. Next, we will shape it into beats. Finally, we'll work on the telling of the story. The workshop will culminate in a live reading at the Scoundrel and Scamp stage Wednesday, February 4th.
